上阿多古小学校特別授業

上阿多古小学校の 5 年生 2 名が天竜フィールドに来てくれ、自然観察会を行いました。今回は天竜フィールドに生育する様々な樹木を目とドローンで観察しつつ、林業の仕事と木材の特徴を勉強してもらいました。

植物の観察では、大きな葉っぱのホオノキや、香りがするクロモジやサンショウなどが特に印象に残ったようです。林業の話では、林業の流れを説明した上で、無間伐試験地と間伐試験地の様子を比較することを通して、管理の大切さを学んでもらいました。また、丸太をノコギリで切ってみたり、切り口を観察したりして、針葉樹材と広葉樹材の違いなども体感してもらいました。

森林を管理することの大切さや、樹木が持つ様々な特徴、面白さを実感してもらえたのであれば嬉しく思います。

We held an outdoor class at the Tenryu Branch for 5th grade students from Kamiatago Elementary School. We observed various trees growing in the Tenryu Branch and studied the forestry work and the characteristics of wood.

The students were especially impressed by Magnolia obovata with its large leaves and Lindera umbellata and Zanthoxylum piperitum with their scent. They also learned the importance of forest management by observing experimental sites with and without thinning and experienced the difference between coniferous and hardwood timber by sawing logs and observing the cut edges.

We are happy if the students were able to understand the importance of forest management and the various characteristics and interesting features of trees.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
