富士・南アルプス生態学実習

8/6-8/9 に富士・南アルプス生態学実習を開催しました。今年は全国 10 大学から集まった 23 名の学部生・大学院生が参加しました。

天竜ブランチ（8/6）
あいにくの雨のため、観音の森でサンプルを採取し、室内で樹種同定に取り組みました。iPad アプリとして整備した植物図鑑を見ながら、照葉樹林を構成する木本の葉と向き合っている様子が印象的でした。

天竜ブランチ→南アルプスブランチ（8/7）
観音の森で毎木調査を行いました。前日に覚えた樹種の知識を活用してデータを集め、森林の階層構造から観音の森の成立過程について考えました。その後は SSS を見学しながら環境保全と調和した人工林管理の実践について学びました。夕方、南アルプスの山犬段宿舎へ。山小屋風の宿舎を興味深く観察しているヒトもいました。今年改修されたシャワールームはみなさん快適にお使いいただけたようです。

南アルプスブランチ（8/8）
午前中はシカ柵内外にどんな昆虫がすんでいるかを調べました。シカ柵外に設置していたピットフォールトラップの大半がなにかの獣に荒らされてしまうアクシデントはありましたが、なんとか考察することができました。お昼からホーキナギへ。天気があやしかったですがなんとか崩壊地を見ることができ、土砂移動と山地工事についての解説を行いました。午後の森林観察では冷温帯林を構成する樹種について学び、シカ柵内外の植生をみながらスズタケの一斉開花枯死とその後の更新にシカがおよぼす影響について解説しました。

富士ブランチ（8/9）
富士山 5 合目付近で樹木限界の植生と生態・亜高山帯針広混交林の生態について学習しました。

4 日間で暖温帯林・冷温帯林・森林限界を歩き、ふだんは観察することができない植生や植物に触れられてよかったという声が多くありました。また、今年は天竜での人工林管理に関する内容に興味をもったヒトが多かったようです。とくに天竜では猛暑の中の実習となりましたが、みなさん楽しみながら活動してくれました。おつかれさまでした。

Ecological practice around Mt.Fuji was held on August 6-9, 2024. There were 23 participants from 10 universities across Japan.

At Tenryu Branch (Aug 6-Aug 7)
We learned about the ecology of warm-temperate evergreen forests through species identification of trees and vegetation surveys in the Kannon Forest, and about the ecological restoration of planted forests through visits to experimental areas and the SSS.

At South Alps Branch (Aug 8)
We learned about the sediment transport phenomenon of the Hoki-nagi landslide, the ecology of cool-temperate deciduous broad-leaved forests with high species diversity, and impacts of deer on vegetation and arthropod community. The weather was iffy, but fortunately we were able to see the collapse site and enjoyed learning about the tree species in the cool-temperate forest.

At Mt. Fuji (Aug 9)
We learned vegetation and ecology of tree line and subalpine mixed coniferous forests around the fifth station of Mt. Fuji.

We visited warm-temperate forests, cool-temperate forests, and forest limits over the four days, and most students said it was good to be learn about vegetation and plants they would not usually be able to observe. In addition, this year, many students were interested in the management of coniferous plantations in Tenryu. Especially in Tenryu, it was extremely hot, but everyone enjoyed the activities. ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
