森林生態系保全管理業務インターンシップ

森林保全管理業務インターンシップを9/6～9/9に実施しました。本プログラムには、他大学から6名の学生さんが参加してくれました。

Day1｜間伐予定地の調査を行いました。午後の短い時間でしたが、標準地調査のためのプロットの作成・毎木調査・間伐率の計算や間伐木の選木などを行いました。

Day2｜台風の影響であいにくの天気でしたが、午前中には下刈鎌の研磨とヒノキ植栽地の下刈り作業を行いました。午後はロープ編み込み加工やクレーンの玉掛作業にも使用可能なワイヤースリングの作成(かご差し)を行いました。おまけとして、ロープクライミングの練習と体験も行いました。

Day3｜この日も午前中は雨模様でした。午前中の前半は林内作業道の基本的な設計や施工方法についてレクチャーを受けた後、実際に林内各所の作業道の様子を規模や地形などの環境別に観察しました。悪天候を活かし、作業道上に流れる雨水の排水の様子も観察することができました。また、専任教員から演習林の紹介などのレクチャーも受けました。午後は晴れ間が出てきたので、チェンソーによる伐倒デモンストレーションと、チェンソーワークのトレーニングを行いました。

Day4｜最終日にしてようやく朝から天気のいい日となり、午前中は前日のチェンソートレーニングの成果を活かしてヒノキ若齢林の間伐(整理伐)作業を行いました。午後には、実習準備のための結実調査やグラップルマシンによる集材の様子の見学をしました。

3泊4日の短い期間、また天候が優れない中での開催となりましたが、林業や演習林の業務に関わる多種多様なメニューを提供できたと自負しています。ただ、参加者の皆さんはコロコロ変わるメニューに頭の切り替えをしながらついてくるのが大変だったかもしれませんね。今回のプログラム参加が今後の大学生活や進路にとって有意義な経験となってくれることを切に願っています。

Internship for Forest Management and Conservation was held at Tenryu Branch from 6th to 9th September (https://wwp.shizuoka.ac.jp/agr-fc-forecol/?p=652). Six students from other universities participated in this program.

Day1: We conducted a survey of the area where we planned to thin trees. We prepared plots, conducted vegetation survey, calculated thinning rates, and selected thinned trees.

Day2: Unfortunately, the weather was not good due to the typhoon, but in the morning, we sharpened sickles and cleared underbrush in cypress plantations. In the afternoon, we worked on rope braiding and making wire slings and also experienced rope climbing.

Day3: In the morning, we received a lecture on the basic design and construction methods of forest roads, and then observed actual roads in various locations in the forest. We were also able to observe the drainage of rainwater flowing over the roads. They also received a lecture from Prof. Mizunaga about the introduction of our experimental forest. In the afternoon, when the weather cleared up, we showed how to cut down trees with chainsaws and had training in chainsaw work.

Day4: On the last day, the weather was finally fine from the morning. We thinned young cypress forests in the morning and conducted a phenology survey for field practice and observed how to collect timber using a grapple machine.

Despite the short duration of four days and unfavorable weather conditions, we are proud to have been able to offer a diverse set of programs related to forestry and work in the experimental forest. We sincerely hope that this program will be a meaningful experience for their university life and career path. Thank you all for your participation!

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
