生態環境実習

8/22-25 に「生態環境実習」が開催されました。この実習は、東京都市大学の学部生向けに開講されており、今年は理工学部と環境学部より 17 名の参加がありました。

今回から天竜ブランチと富士ブランチで実習を行いました。1 日目・2 日目は植生と土壌の関係について学び、とくに 2 日目は蛇紋岩エリアと広葉樹二次林で植生調査をみっちり行いました。ほぼまる 1 日調査に打ち込んでいたこともあり、このトピックをおもしろいと感じた学生が多かったようです。

3 日目には森林に住む野生動物の調査（シャーマントラップによる野ネズミの捕獲や自動撮影カメラによる哺乳類の撮影）を主に行いました。これまで成績のよくなかったシャーマントラップですが、今回は 2 個体捕獲することができ、非常に盛り上がりました。午後は自動撮影カメラのデータチェック作業をこつこつ行い、動物を見落とさないようにたくさんの写真をチェックする難しさに気づいたことでしょう。

4 日目は富士ブランチへ。6 合目付近では樹木限界の植生や生態を、ハイキングコースを下りながら亜高山帯針広混交林の樹種やその生態について学びました。少し霧が濃かったようですが、晴れて十分富士山を堪能できたのではないかとおもいます。

今年は天竜での活動を多くしたことで、森林内での調査に打ち込む時間的な余裕ができ、かつ学部間交流の機会も提供することもでき、充実した実習となりました。

"Practice in Ecology and Environment" was held at the Tenryu and Fuji branches on August 22-25. Seventeen undergraduate students from Tokyo City University participated in the practice this year.

On the first and second days, students learned about the relationship between vegetation and soil. Especially on the second day, we conducted a thorough vegetation survey in serpentinite areas and secondary broadleaved forests. Many students seemed to find this topic interesting, as they spent almost the entire day on the survey.

On the third day, we mainly conducted surveys of wildlife in the forest (capturing field mice with Sherman traps and photographing mammals with sensor cameras). We were able to capture two mice this time, which was very exciting. In the afternoon, we engaged in checking the data collected by sensor cameras and must have realized the difficulty of checking many photos while being careful not to miss any animals.

On the fourth day, we went to Fuji Branch, where we learned about the vegetation and ecology of the tree line and subalpine mixed coniferous forests. Although it was a little foggy, the weather cleared up and we were able to enjoy the activity around Mt Fuji.

The practice was very fruitful because we were able to spend more time on research in the forest and also provided an opportunity for inter-faculty exchange.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
