カニムシ＠南アルプスブランチ

8月上旬に南アルプスフィールドの山犬段宿舎周辺で、林床の土壌動物調査を行いました。根気よく微細な動物をソーティングしているとカニムシを発見しました。このカニムシの仲間は海岸から山の上まで、いたるところに生息しているので珍しい生き物ではありませんが、ほとんどの種が成体でも数㎜以下の体サイズでとにかく小さく、普段山の中でその姿に気づくことはまずありません。カニムシの英語名は「Pseudoscorpion」和訳すると「偽サソリ」確かにサソリによく似た姿形をしています。しかしサソリとは異なる系統の生き物で、もちろん毒針ももっていません。このカニムシは微細ながらもその特徴的なハサミを駆使して自身よりも小さな動物を捕食する肉食動物で、彼らの餌となる動物の目にはその姿が異形の巨大モンスターとして映っているのかもしれないと考えると、ミクロの世界も奥深い面白さがあるなと思います。

In early August, we conducted a survey for soil fauna in the South Alps Branch. We found pseudoscorpions from the soil samples. These species are found everywhere from the coast to the mountainous area, but most of them are so tiny that it is rare to notice them in the forest. As the name suggests, pseudoscorpions look like a scorpion. However, they belong to a different phylogenetic group from that of scorpions, and of course they do not have a venomous stinger. They prey on animals smaller than themselves, using their characteristic microscopic chelae. When I imagine that to a prey animal, a pseudoscorpion might look like a giant monster, I think that the microscopic world is also profoundly interesting.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
