野生植物生態学特論

今週は天竜ブランチで野生植物生態学特論 (http://fc-forecol.agr.shizuoka.ac.jp/wordpress/?p=619) が行われていました。この実習は、新潟大学自然科学研究科博士前期課程の学生向けに開講されており、今年は 5 名が参加しました。

天竜では飯尾先生が植物の生理生態に関する講義と実験を行いました。ヤマハンノキという木をまるまる 1 本伐倒し、5 層に分割、層別に光環境、器官別の重量、葉面積、光合成能力、呼吸速度の測定・計測を行いました。これらのデータから 1 本の木の炭素収支について知ることができます。

Advanced course in forest ecology (http://fc-forecol.agr.shizuoka.ac.jp/wordpress/?p=619) was held in the Tenryu branch this week. This course is for master students in Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University.

Dr. Iio gives lectures and instructions on experiments of plant ecophysiology. We cut down a Alnus hirsuta tree, divided it into 5 layers, and measured photoenvironment, weight of each organ (e.g., leaves, branches, & stems), leaf area index, photosynthesis capability, and respiration rates in each layer. By using these data, we can determine the carbon balance of a single tree.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
