野生植物生態学特論

天竜ブランチでは野生植物生態学特論が開講中です！

この実習は、新潟大学自然科学研究科（博士前期課程）環境科学専攻の学生を対象にしたもので、天竜では飯尾先生が樹木の生理生態的特徴およびその測定法などをレクチャーします。

1枚目の写真はヤマハンノキ伐倒の様子です。そこから層別刈り取りをし、光環境と器官ごとの重量を計測しましたが。樹高7.6mほどの木でも、なかなか大変な作業でしたね！（虫のせい？）

この後、葉面積や呼吸、光合成速度を層ごとに測定することで、樹木一本あたりの炭素収支や、陰葉と陽葉の生理的な違いを学ぶことになります。

Eco-physiological practice "Advanced Course in Forest Ecology" is now being held in Tenryu branch!

This practice is designed for students in Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University. Dr. Iio sensei lectured about physiological characters in woody plants and how to measure that in Tenryu.

First, we cut a single Alnus hirsuta tree, and collect all leaves (assimilatory organ) and non-assimilatory organs (branch and stem) by layer. Tree height is only 7.6m, but this work is so hard!

After that, we will measure a leaf area index (LAI), respiration rates of the organs, and photosynthesis capabilities on each layer.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
