Field seminar at temperate forests around Mt. Fuji（３フィールド　9/26～10/2）

海外6カ国7大学の大学院生を対象に、7泊8日の野外実習を行いました。タイのカセサート大、インドネシアのガジャマダ大とボゴール農科大、ベトナムのベトナム林業大、マレーシアのプトラ大、中国の南京林業大、スロベニアのLjubljana大の合計12名です。静岡大からは4名が参加しました。この実習の目的は、日本の森林植生の特徴を学び自国との違いを理解してもらうこと、学生間の国際交流です。静岡大の講師陣は、水永先生、王先生、楢本先生、今泉先生、片畑先生と私の計6名で、森林経営から植生、生態系機能、リモートセンシング、山地保全まで様々なレクチャーを行いました。海外の学生さん達はとても明るく勉強熱心です。日本の学生にはよい刺激になったのではないでしょうか。このセミナーが国際交流の発展へとつながることを願っています。私も英語のスキルを向上させて、来年はもっと楽しいセミナーにしたいと思いました。ここでは、南アルプスと天竜で私が撮影した写真を紹介します。

Field seminar for foreign, master course students was held from 26th Sep to 2nd Oct in all three fields. Twelve students from seven universities in six countries (China, Indonesia, Slovenia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam) participated. Four Japanese students also participated and assisted our seminar. The aim of this seminar is to study characteristics of Japanese forest vegetation, and to promote international exchange. Six lecturers of Shizuoka University held various lectures such as ecology, eco-physiology, remote-sensing, land slide, silviculture, and so on. I hope participants have studied a lot and have enjoyed this seminar. I also hope this seminar have become a good chance to make foreign friends and develops international joint research in future. Here, I introduce some photographs of lectures held in South-Alps and Tenryu field.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
