森林保全学実習　（天竜、南アルプス、富士ブランチ　8月29～9月1日）

全国公募型の森林保全学実習を8月下旬に行いました。今年は盛況で、北は山形大学から南は琉球大学まで、7大学12人の参加がありました（学内をあわせると16名）。ホクホクです。ポスターの効果があったのかな？分子生物学を専門とする片畑先生が加入したので、新しい講義として分子マーカーを利用した細根の樹種分類を行いました。天気はあいにくの雨続きでしたが、タワー登りやBBQはなんとか実施できました。移動の多い実習なので、移動中や各フィールドでの内容をいかに濃くできるかが、課題です。この調子で来年もがんばります。ここでは私が担当した南アルプスと天竜の様子を紹介します。

Field lecture for forest conservation was held from 29th Aug to 1st Sep. Students not only in Shizuoka University but also in other University can participate to this lecture. In this year, twelve students from seven other Universities participated. Number of participants was three folds higher than last year! We are so happy! From this year, Dr. Katahata, specialist of molecular biology, joined our team. So, new lecture entitled "Identification of tree species of fine roots by using molecular marker" was conducted. Although it rained for two of four days, we could climb tower and could enjoyed BBQ. Since we visit three fields by bus, travel time of this lecture is so long (7 hours in total). We need to enrich content of each lecture in each field more. Here, I introduce photographs taken in South-Alps and Tenryu field.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
