新潟大学の大学院生を対象に、天竜と富士フィールドで3泊4日の実習を行いました。主な目的は（１）樹木生理生態学のアプローチを学習すること、（２）新潟にはない暖温帯広葉樹林や太平洋側ブナ林の特徴を学習することです。ここでは、天竜フィールドで行った、生理生態学実験の様子を紹介したいと思います。樹高6mくらいのヤマハンノキを伐採して光合成や樹皮呼吸を測定し、１本の炭素固定量を計算しました。光の測定法など、うまく伝えられなかった部分もあったのですが、みなさん熱心に取り組んでくれました。途中から、静岡大の留学生グループも参加し、夜には浜松らしく餃子パーティをしました。遠い場所から来てもらうので、今後もそれに見合う充実した内容にしていきたいと思います（初日は、みなさん朝3時に新潟を出発したとか・・・・）。みなさんお疲れ様でした！

海外6カ国7大学の大学院生を対象に、7泊8日の野外実習を行いました。タイのカセサート大、インドネシアのガジャマダ大とボゴール農科大、ベトナムのベトナム林業大、マレーシアのプトラ大、中国の南京林業大、スロベニアのLjubljana大の合計12名です。静岡大からは4名が参加しました。この実習の目的は、日本の森林植生の特徴を学び自国との違いを理解してもらうこと、学生間の国際交流です。静岡大の講師陣は、水永先生、王先生、楢本先生、今泉先生、片畑先生と私の計6名で、森林経営から植生、生態系機能、リモートセンシング、山地保全まで様々なレクチャーを行いました。海外の学生さん達はとても明るく勉強熱心です。日本の学生にはよい刺激になったのではないでしょうか。このセミナーが国際交流の発展へとつながることを願っています。私も英語のスキルを向上させて、来年はもっと楽しいセミナーにしたいと思いました。ここでは、南アルプスと天竜で私が撮影した写真を紹介します。 Field seminar for foreign, master course students was held from 26th Sep to 2nd Oct in all three fields. Twelve students from seven universities in six countries (China, Indonesia, Slovenia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam) participated. Four Japanese students also participated and assisted our seminar. The aim of this seminar is to study characteristics of Japanese forest vegetation, and to promote international exchange. 静岡県立大学の食品栄養科学部の学生さんを対象に、2泊3日のフィールドワーク実習を行いました。食品栄養の方々ということで、なるべく森林から採れる食物や森林と人間生活との関係に（強引に）結びつけた講義を行いました。メインは栗拾い。種子生産量の測定方法や個体サイズの関係、ブナ科の自家不和合性などについて学びました。夜は、静岡県林業技術センターからご提供頂いた、シカ肉、シシ肉料理を食べました。残念ながら実習中はずっと雨で、写真を撮ることができませんでした。１週間前に開催予定だった薬食生命科学の大学院生向けの授業も雨で中止となり、この実習に合流となりました。そういえば、昨年も県立大学向け実習は2度の台風で中止になったような・・・。来年こそは天気に恵まれますように！写真がないので、栗林の写真を。 Field work lecture for students of Prefecture University of Shizuoka was held from 16th to 18th Sep in Tenryu field. Since students are studying food and nutritional science, we prepared a lecture related to food and culture of forest. For example, we were nutting chestnut on second day, for studying how to measure seed production rate of tree, its dependence on tree size, and self incompatibility of Fagaceae family. 全国公募型の森林保全学実習を8月下旬に行いました。今年は盛況で、北は山形大学から南は琉球大学まで、7大学12人の参加がありました（学内をあわせると16名）。ホクホクです。ポスターの効果があったのかな？分子生物学を専門とする片畑先生が加入したので、新しい講義として分子マーカーを利用した細根の樹種分類を行いました。天気はあいにくの雨続きでしたが、タワー登りやBBQはなんとか実施できました。移動の多い実習なので、移動中や各フィールドでの内容をいかに濃くできるかが、課題です。この調子で来年もがんばります。ここでは私が担当した南アルプスと天竜の様子を紹介します。 Field lecture for forest conservation was held from 29th Aug to 1st Sep. Students not only in Shizuoka University but also in other University can participate to this lecture. In this year, twelve students from seven other Universities participated. Number of participants was three folds higher than last year! We are so happy! From this year, Dr. Katahata, specialist of molecular biology, joined our team. So, new lecture entitled "Identification of tree species of fine roots by using molecular marker" was conducted. Although it rained for two of four days, we could climb tower and could enjoyed BBQ. ずいぶん日が経過してしまいましたが、夏に行われた実習の様子を順番に紹介していこうと思います。 まずは、8月中旬に行われたフィールド科学演習です。農学部全体の１年生を対象にした実習で、森林だけでなく、応用生物や共生バイオといった他学科の学生も含まれています。（１）枝うちや間伐を行う管理業務体験と、（２）演習林内の植生や森林のリハビリ現場を観察しながらその特徴を説明するハイキング　を行いました。本来、枝うちや間伐は秋から冬に行うのですが、どうしても体験してもらいたくて、技術職員さんたちに無理を言いました。アンケートの結果も業務体験のほうが楽しかったという意見が多く、なんとか続けていければと思いました。ハイキング担当の私としては複雑ですが、やっぱり実習は体を動かさないとダメですね。もっと色んなテーマを考えようと思いました。 We held field science lecture for 1st grade students of Agricultural faculty at Tenryu field. Objective of this lecture was (1) to experience forest management work such as pruning and thinning, and (2) to study forest rehabilitation by hiking in forest. In general, pruning and thinning must be done in autumn or winter to avoid infection of disease and stem damage. But, I wanted students to experience management work, because this is only chance for students majoring in bio-science course. Actually, management was more popular than hiking, while hiking was my part... In next year, I have to consider more attractive lecture.
