ツリーウォーク足場完成＠南アルプスブランチ

南アルプスフィールドのツリーウォーク足場が完成しました！

下から樹木を眺めていたのでは、樹木の特徴はよくわかりませんが、こうした足場を使うことで、間近に観察することができます。

足場の中には、オオイタヤメイゲツ、ミズメ、ヒメシャラ、ブナ、ウラジロモミ、テツカエデ、コハクウンボク、タンナサワフタギ、アセビなど、多様な種があります。同じ場所に生えていますが、こうした種の生理機能（CO2吸収や水、養分利用）や構造（葉の付き方や枝ぶり）には、どのような違いがあるのかを調べる予定です。その取り組みの様子や結果を実習で紹介していけたらと思います。

Canopy-access tower was finished in the end of June. Now, we can access crown top of various tree species, such as Acer shirasawanum, Acer nipponicum, Fagus crenata, Betula grossa, Stewarita monadelpha, Abies homolepis, Styrax shiraianus, Symplocos coreana, Pieris japonica, and can watch their leaves, flowers and branching pattern in detail. We will start study investigating inter-species differences in structure and eco-physiological functions in this summer, to clarify importance of species diversity on ecosystem service. We would like to introduce our study results in field lecture.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
