懇親会　第2部の様子です。 すてきな横断幕はなんとゲストの手作りです。 夜遅くまで、林業の話題で盛り上がりました。 After-party of conference We lively discussed forest management until late at night. Nice banner in photo is handmade by guest.

あいにくの雨天でしたが、山の講の後に、地域の林業関係者を招いてフィールド見学と懇談会を行いました。総勢26名の盛況な会となり、懇談会のディスカッションテーマ「人工林をどのように更新させるか？」では、活発な意見交換がおこなわれました。懇親会では森林林業センターからご提供いただいた鹿肉と猪肉料理も振る舞われ、参加者の方々と親交を深めることができました。 天竜フィールドでは、現在、大学ならではの森林管理を検討中で、早ければ来年度から、モデル林づくりに取り組む予定です。懇親会ではその抱負も説明させて頂きました。地域林業に貢献できるようにがんばりますので、今年もよろしくお願いいたします。 Annual event which offers prayers for safety and success of our work was held at Tenryu field on 30 Jan. After the event, informal conference was held to exchange ideas for regeneration of old plantation with people concerned with forest industry in Tenryu region.

JICA研修の一部として、セネガルの森林官の方々を天竜フィールドに案内しました。 As a part of JICA training program, Senegalese rangers visited Tenryu field. We explained history and current state of Japanese forest management.

新潟大学の学生さんを招いて野外講義（野生植物生態学特論）を行いました。台風の影響が心配でしたが、スケジュール通り開講できてホットしています。樹木の生理生態や群落光合成、太平洋側の植生について説明しました。天竜フィールドで行った群落光合成と植生調査の様子を紹介します。 Field lecture for master course students of Niigata University was held in Tenryu and Fuji field (6-9 Oct). Contents are (1) plant ecophysiology and (2) forest vegetation in Pacific ocean side. Although big typhoon hit Hamamatsu just before the lecture, we could start on schedule (I'm relieved!). I show some photos for the lectures conducted in Tenryu field. ススキ群落内の光環境の調査。棒状の光センサーを突き刺して群落内の光を測定します。 Light measurement in Miscanthus sinensis's canopy. イタドリ群落？の層別刈り取り。実験室で器官の面積や重量を測定して、群落構造の垂直分布を調べました。台風の直前まではまとまった群落だったのですが、台風通過後は強風でイタドリが倒されてスカスカに・・・。 Stratified clipping of Fallopia japonica canopy. Stratified clipping survey. To know the leaf distribution and light dynamics of shrub communities. This is much tough work..We aimed to quantify the competition of shrubs..

Japanese cedar seedlings under the shade treatment. We supposed that seedlings compete with shrubby species. We measured physiological parameters.
