フィールド科学演習II

天竜ブランチでフィールド科学演習 II（その 1）が実施されました。 (https://wwp.shizuoka.ac.jp/agr-fc-forecol/?p=604) 

今回は農学部の 1 年生 18 人が参加しました。 久しぶりに宿泊形式で開催し、2 日間で森林科学の基礎を学ぶメニューを実施しました。

1 日目は残念ながら雨だったので、あらかじめ採取したサンプルを使って、室内で樹種同定に取り組みました。 紙の図鑑に加え、iPad アプリとして整備した自作のデジタル植物図鑑を活用しながら、 みなさん熱心に樹木を検索している様子がみられました。 夕方に雨が小降りになったので、ネズミ調査用のシャーマントラップを設置に行きました。

2 日目は朝からフィールドへ。幸運にもアカネズミを捕獲することができ、実物を観察しながら、ネズミが森で果たす役割について解説しました。 また、1 日目に予定していた、樹木の計測やドローンを用いた森林調査についてのメニューも実施することができました。 宿舎では簡易的なツルグレン装置を使って、土壌動物の観察を行いました。 朝活動した場所でリターの分解に貢献している多様な土壌動物を実際に見ることができました。

あいにくの天気でしたが、みなさん積極的に活動に参加している姿が印象的でした。 まだまだ紹介できていない内容もたくさんあるので、卒業までにまた演習林を訪れていただければとおもいます。

Practice of Field science II was held at the Tenryu Branch on 17th and 18th May (https://wwp.shizuoka.ac.jp/agr-fc-forecol/?p=604). Eighteen 1st year students from the Faculty of Agriculture participated in the practice. We conducted various menus to learn the basics of forest science. 

Unfortunately, it rained on the first day, so we worked on tree identification using samples collected in advance. The students were eagerly searching for trees using a plant database of the Experiment Forest prepared by the staff. In the evening, we went to set up the Sherman traps for the rodent survey. 

On the second day, we went to the field in the morning. We were fortunate to capture a wood mouse (Apodemus speciosus) and learned the role that wood mice play in the forest. We were also able to carry out activities we had planned for the first day, measurement of trees and forest survey using a drone. At the lodge, we observed soil animals using a Tullgren apparatus. We were able to see the diverse soil animals that contribute to the decomposition of litter in the area where we worked in the morning. 

Although the weather was unfortunately unfavorable, it was impressive to see everyone actively participating in the activities. There are still many things we have not been able to introduce, so we hope everyone will visit the experimental forest again.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
