ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/18 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。お昼過ぎまでマツ林の除伐と地かき（かき起こし）を行いました。低木が密集して生えているマツ林に面食らっていた様子でしたが、なたやのこを使って木を倒す作業に精力的に取り組んでくれ、作業後にはすっきりしたマツ林になりました。その後、枯れたアカマツの伐倒作業を見学し、マツノマダラカミキリ幼虫を駆除するための材の燻蒸処理の準備を行いました。さいごに、除伐した広葉樹低木やその他の材を使って、木工体験を行いました。木工を楽しみながら、樹種による材の特性のちがいなどを学んでもらえたのではないかとおもいます。

風の冷たい、非常に寒い 1 日でしたが、実際に森林整備を体験することで、林業を身近に感じる機会になっていればうれしいです。みなさんおつかれさまでした。

On November 18th, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we went to a pine forest to clear broad-leaved trees and conducted scarification. Although students seemed puzzled by the pine forest with its dense shrubs, they worked energetically to fell the shrubs using a saw and a machete. In the afternoon, we learned about how to cut a pine snag by using a chainsaw and prepared for fumigation treatments of pine logs to eradicate larvae of longhorn beetles. Finally, we had the experience of woodworking using hardwood shrubs and other timbers. The students enjoyed woodworking and were able to learn about the the variation in characteristics of different species of wood.

It was a very cold and windy day, but we hope that the experience of forest maintenance gave the participants an opportunity to feel closer to the forestry in Shizuoka.

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
