上阿多古小学校特別授業

11/9 に上阿多古小学校の 5・6 年生のみなさんが演習林事務所にいらっしゃいました。総合の時間で天竜地域について調べ学習をするということで、天竜ブランチの哺乳類についてお話しました。自動撮影カメラを用いた哺乳類調査について紹介し、ヒトがすんでいて、あたたかく、人工林が多い場所に適応した／を好む種が天竜でよく撮影されていることを解説しました。また、狩猟免許を持っている技術職員の宇佐美さんが箱罠とくくり罠のデモンストレーションを行いました。ほぼ全員が実際に罠を見たことがあったのは予想外でしたが、仕組みや設置方法を解説し、実際に動作したときの迫力を感じてもらったことは有意義だったと信じています。質疑応答の時間も充実していてよかったです。みなさん豊富な知識を持っているだけでなくでいろいろな体験もしていて、もっと専門的な話でもよかったのでは……とおもってしまうほどでしたが、小学校での今後の活動に少しでも貢献できていたらうれしいです。

On Nov 9, we gave a lecture on mammals living in the Tenryu Branch for 5th-6th grade students from Kamiatago Elementary School. I introduced the results of mammal survey using camera traps and showed that species adapted to/preferring warm areas or anthropogenic landscapes are often filmed in Tenryu. Mr. Usami, a technical specialist who has a hunting license, gave a demonstration of box traps and snare traps. We were surprised that almost everyone had seen the traps before, but we believe that the explanation of how the traps work and should be installed and seeing the traps in action were worthwhile. The question-and-answer session was also very productive. Everyone not only had a wealth of knowledge on Tenryu, but also had a variety of experiences, which made me think that a more specialized talk would have been better.... We would be happy if we could have contributed even a little to their future activities.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
