ふじのくに学（森林生態系からの恵み）

10 月 14 日と 15 日にふじのくに学（森林生態系からの恵み）が開催されました。この実習は、ふじのくに地域・大学コンソーシアムと連携して開催している実習で、今年は静岡大学、静岡英和学院大学、静岡県立大学、浜松医科大学、総合研究大学院大学と 5 大学から参加者がありました。また、実習の解説を英語で行い、留学生の参加を積極的に受け入れていることもこの実習の特徴です。

10 月 14 日の富士山は雲一つない晴天に恵まれ、素晴らしい景色を堪能しつつ、森林限界の特殊な植生やそれぞれの種の形態的な特徴等を学びました。また、森林限界の下部に広がる亜高山帯の植生や、亜高山帯から冷温帯への推移帯（エコトーン）の植生なども学びました。

10 月 15 日の南アルプスフィールドは雨の心配がありましたが、現地に到着する頃には雨が上がり、フィールドワークを実施することができました。冷温帯の植生を実際に見ながら、太平洋側と日本海側の植生の特徴と違いなどを解説しました。また、ササの一斉開花・枯死と連動した樹木の更新動態や、近年深刻化しているシカの食圧の影響等についても学びました。

富士山には登ったことがあるという方も多数いらっしゃいましたが、解説を聞きながら歩くことで新しい発見がたくさんあったのではないかと思います。今回の実習が森林への興味を深める一つのきっかけとなれば嬉しく思います。

On October 14th and 15th, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Ecosystem services from various forests) was held in the Fuji Branch and the South Alps Branch. Students from universities in Shizuoka Prefecture participated in this practice. A unique feature of this practice is that we provide explanations in English and encourage the participation of international students.

In the Fuji Branch, we learned about the unique vegetation at the forest limit and the morphological characteristics of each species. We also learned about the vegetation of the subalpine zone that extends below the forest limit and the vegetation of the transition zone between the subalpine zone and the cool-temperate zone (i.e., ecotone).

In the South Alps Branch, we explained the characteristics and differences between vegetation on the Pacific Ocean side and the Sea of Japan side. We also learned about the dynamics of tree regeneration, the mass flowering and death of Sasa, and the effects of feeding pressure by deer, which has become increasingly severe in recent years.

We would be happy if this practice could serve as an opportunity to deepen the students' interest in forests.

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
