富士・南アルプス生態学実習

8/8-8/10 に富士・南アルプス生態学実習を開催しました。今年は全国 17 大学から集まった 31 名の学部生・大学院生が参加し、コロナ前と同程度の規模で実施することができました。

天竜ブランチ（8/8）
観音の森で樹種識別や毎木調査を行い、照葉樹林の生態を学び、ギャップ試験地や SSS を見学して人工林の生態系修復について学びました。樹冠を見上げながら樹種の識別をするのはかなり難しかったようですが、てきぱき調査している様子が印象的でした。

天竜ブランチ（8/9）
本来、南アルプスブランチで、ホウキナギの土砂移動現象・種の多様性の高い太平洋型冷温帯落葉広葉樹林・シカが植生と節足動物相に及ぼすインパクトなどを学ぶ予定でした。しかし台風接近に伴う荒天のため、講義を中心とする室内メニューに切り替えました。フィールドで実物を見ながらの活動ができなかったことはわれわれスタッフもたいへん残念でしたが、みなさん集中して講義をきき、作業に取り組んでくれました。

富士ブランチ（8/10）
この日は天気に恵まれ、富士山 5 合目付近で樹木限界の植生と生態・亜高山帯針広混交林の生態について学習しました。また、今回初めて森林管理署の方から富士国有林におけるシカ管理についてご紹介いただきました。参加者にも好評で有意義な取り組みとなりました。

暖温帯から樹木限界まで、さまざまな森林を駆け足で見て回りながら、植物・動物・防災とさまざまなトピックについて学習しました。それぞれの植生帯の特徴を実感し、森林が複雑な系であるゆえの管理の難しさを感じていただければとおもいます。

Ecological practice around Mt.Fuji was held on August 8-10, 2023. There were 31 participants from 17 universities across Japan. The participants were enthusiastic and responsive, so we also enjoyed the practice so much.

At Tenryu Branch (Aug 8)
We learned about the ecology of warm-temperate evergreen forests through species identification of trees and vegetation surveys in the Kannon Forest, and about the ecological restoration of planted forests through visits to experimental areas and the SSS. It seems that it was quite difficult to identify tree species based on the leaves in the canopy, but it was impressive to see them being so energetic.

At Tenryu Branch (Aug 9)
Originally, we had planned to visit the South Alps Branch to learn about the sediment transport phenomenon of the Hoki-nagi landslide, the ecology of cool-temperate deciduous broad-leaved forests with high species diversity, and impacts of deer on vegetation and arthropod community. However, due to severe rainfall caused by an approaching typhoon, we had lectures and indoor work at the Tenryu Branch. Although we were also very disappointed that we were not able to go to the field, everyone listened to the lectures and worked enthusiastically.

At Mt. Fuji (Aug 10)
We learned vegetation and ecology of tree line and subalpine mixed coniferous forests around the fifth station of Mt. Fuji. This year, a member of the Shizuoka Forest Management Office gave a presentation on deer management in the Fuji National Forest, which was a very meaningful program.

While traveling through a variety of forests from the warm temperate zone to the tree line, participants learned about a variety of topics including plants, animals, and disaster prevention. We hope that the participants will be able to experience the characteristics of each vegetation zone and feel that forests are complex systems, and that this makes them difficult to manage.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
