フィールドワーク

先週末 11/6 に静岡県立大学の「フィールドワーク実習」が天竜ブランチで行われました。

午前中はヒノキの植栽体験をしました。斜面での作業に苦労している様子でしたが、みなさん葉の裏表を見分けてしっかり植栽できていました。

その後、森林内にある樹種を学んだり、樹木の大きさや年輪の測定方法や UAV の操縦まで森林の調査方法をひととおり体験したりしました。また、ブナ科見本林で萌芽調査をし、最後に森林にすむ哺乳類について学びました（実は堅果と動物の関わりについて取り上げようと準備していたのですが、置いてある堅果には目もくれずまつぼっくりをくわえて走って行くリスが写っていただけでした……。）

全体として森林の測定方法に興味をもっていただいた方が多く、もっとも好評だったのはやはり UAV での操縦体験でした。もりだくさんの内容でしたが、みなさんおつかれさまでした。

Last weekend on November 6th, "Fieldwork Practice" for students from University of Shizuoka was held at the Tenryu Branch.

In the morning, we experienced planting saplings of Japanese cypress. Although it was difficult to work on the slope, everyone was able to distinguish between the two sides of the leaves and plant the trees well.

The students learned about the species of trees in the forest, and experienced a variety of forest survey methods, such as measuring the size and annual rings of trees and operating a UAV. After that, we conducted a survey for sprout characteristics of Fagaceae trees, and finally learned about mammals that live in forests.

(Actually, I had planned to explain the relationship between acorns and animals, but all I got was a picture of a squirrel running with a pine cone in its mouth, not paying attention to nuts in the forest ......)

Overall, most of the students were interested in forest measurement methods, and the most popular part was the experience of UAV operation.

ふじのくに学（農林業）

11/22 に天竜ブランチでふじのくに学（農林業）が行われました。 午前は、野生動物による林業被害対策について解説しました。 シカやカモシカが低木の葉を食べる動画を見たり、宿舎周辺で罠やシカ柵の実物を見たりしながら説明しました。 午後は、宿舎周辺でコンテナ苗の植え付けや下刈りについて解説したのち、ヒノキ林で枝打ちと間伐体験を行いました。 斜面で立木を伐倒するたいへんさ、枝打ちをする高さ、切りたてのヒノキのにおいなど実感してもらえたのではないかとおもいます。 みなさん林業とは関わりがうすい学部からの参加ということもあり、 実際に森林で活動することで林業に興味を持つきっかけになっていればうれしいです。 （栗）  On November 22nd, Fuji-no-Kuni-Gaku (Agriculture and Forestry) was held at the Tenryu Branch. In the morning, we learned about measures to mitigate forestry damage caused by wild animals. Using videos of deer and serow feeding on shrub leaves, as well as showing actual traps and deer fences around the lodge, we explained how such damage occurs and how it is managed. In the afternoon, after we explained about planting container seedlings and weeding around the lodge, participants experienced pruning and thinning in a cypress forest. カーボンニュートラル（プレ）実習

次年度から開講予定のカーボンニュートラルフィールドワークに先立ち、主に静岡大学グローバル共創科学部の学生に参加してもらってプレ実習を開催しました。  1日目は、1本のヒノキがどれほどの炭素を蓄積してきたのか、実際に木を伐倒して推定しました。予想より小さい値であったようで、みなさん驚いていました。 2日目には、森林管理が短期的に、あるいは中・長期的にどのような効果をもたらすのかについて、間伐試験地などを見学しながら考える実習を行いました。 二酸化炭素吸収量の維持・増加を目指すために森林が重要という大まかなイメージは皆さんが持っていたものの、 森林管理がもたらす具体的な効果やその効果が現れるまでの時間についてはイメージができていないことが多かったようです。 この実習を通してその辺りの理解を深めていただけたのではないかと思います。  参加者からのフィードバックを参考にして、次年度からの実習をより良い形にしていきたいと思います。 （花） Ahead of the Carbon Neutral Fieldwork course scheduled to begin next academic year, we held a pre-training session, primarily for students in the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation at Shizuoka University.
