ヒキガエルが冬眠から目覚める時期になりました。冬の前にたらふくお腹を膨らませ、無事に冬を越したカエル達に会えるのが待ち遠しいです。ただ昆虫調査用のトラップに侵入して貴重なサンプルを食べてしまうのは控えてほしいです。 （宇） It is time for toads to wake up from hibernation. I was looking forward to seeing these frogs, which have filled their bellies and survived the winter, but I just hope they do not eat insect samples collected in traps. Usami

南アルプスブランチの高標高域でも今年は順調に雪解けが進み、だんだんと花の時期になってきました。この時期に咲いている花の写真を撮りたいなと思ってカメラを回していると、開花しているアブラチャンの横にカモシカがいました。花でも食べていたのでしょうか？ （宇） The snow has melted steadily this year even at the high elevations of the South Alps Branch and flowers are starting to bloom. As I was walking around the forest to take pictures of the flowers, I saw a serow next to a blooming Aburachan tree (Lindera praecox). I wondered if the serow was eating flowers. Usami

年度末のばたばたの合間を縫って、静岡県立森林公園で行われている「定点カメラがとらえたケモノ展」に行ってきました (https://kenritsu-shinrinkouen.jp/.../%E5%AD%A3%E7%AF%80.../)。自動撮影カメラで撮影された哺乳類の写真や動画を中心に、パネルや剥製などの展示がされていました。 いちばんの目的は浜松学芸中学校・高等学校の探究自然科学によるギャラリートークでした(https://www.gakugei.ed.jp/topics/detail/2208)。REST モデルによる野生イノシシの個体数推定についての発表をきき、学業だけでなく最新の手法を用いた研究活動にも取り組んでいる様子に刺激を受けました。県内のイノシシ生息状況に関するデータは貴重で、非常に有意義な調査だとおもいます。複数年継続されるとのことだったので今後の進展が楽しみです。 私も塩漬けにしているカメラデータの分析を進めねば……。 （栗） I visited the exhibition at Shizuoka Prefectural Forest Park. The exhibit featured photos and videos of mammals taken by automatic cameras, as well as panels and stuffed animals. The most important event was a gallery talk by students from Hamamatsu Gakugei Junior and Senior High School, who gave a presentation on estimating wild boar populations using the REST model. I was inspired by their research activities using the latest methods and felt the data on the wild boar population in Shizuoka is so valuable. オンラインセミナー森と山の科学#5「気象変動にともなう森林の変化――樹木の季節性（開葉・紅葉・落葉）はどのように変化するのか？――」が開催されました。身近なトピックである秋の紅葉などの葉フェノロジーが気象条件によってどのように変わるか、その応答が種によってどれくらい異なるかなど、複雑ながら興味深い話題提供がありました。質疑応答も盛り上がり、有意義な時間となったのではないかとおもいます。ご参加いただいた 12 名の皆様ありがとうございました。
